Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Description Summary
    Temporary Research Librarian, Faculty Rank

    Duties
    The Temporary Research Librarian operates under the authority of the Director of the Commonwealth University Libraries.
    • Assisting undergraduate, graduate, and faculty researchers in locating relevant information
    • Participating in the Library’s Information Literacy Instruction program
    • Keeping informed about current events in the Library profession that are pertinent to job responsibilities
    • Participating in assigned liaison responsibilities with academic departments as needed
    • Cooperating as a team member with other librarians and staff in performing other professional duties as directed by the Director of the Commonwealth University Libraries

    Qualifying Experience and Education (Minimum/Preferred)
    Required:
    • ALA-accredited Masters degree
    • Experience using and teaching online information resources
    • Finalists must successfully complete an interview
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

    Preferred: Prior academic library experience

    Recommendation for hiring is needed for a majority of the regular, full-time department faculty.

    Background Clearances
    Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
