Direct Mail Specialist jobs in Alaska

We are looking for a Direct Support Specialist to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities with day habilitation services which consist of daily outings in the community or in the home.

Responsibilities

• TO HAVE FUN!!! Our individuals enjoy going to the library, playing disc golf, baking, taking walks along Potters Marsh, shopping for personal items and being apart of our lovely community. Keeping the individual safe, working on individualized goals, and documenting daily are the responsibilities of this position. You will be required to provide role model behavior by setting a positive example with behavior and work ethics.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ;

• Strong interpersonal skills and customer service
• Must have knowledge of the HIPPA laws of 1996 to maintain and safeguard confidential medical and personal records
• Experience with documenting in the Therap data base is preferred.
• Must have proven ability to provide descriptive notes addressing interventions used and individual response in data base.
• Working knowledge of signs and symptoms of common illnesses and conditions
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ability to consistently be at work and on time
• Ability to maintain a confidential working relationship
• Excellent personal organizational skills
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude in difficult situations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age;
• Must meet all the requirements for the position as set out in 7 AAC 125.010 – 7 AAC 125.199;
• Must pay for and pass a Criminal Background Check requested under (c) of this section unless the department grants a variance under 7 AAC 10.935; this includes being finger printed
• May not have been denied a health care provider license or certification for a reason related to patient services described in 7 AAC 105 – 7 AAC 160, or ever had a license or certification revoked; and
• Must be able to independently assist the recipient with the specific ADL under 7 AAC 125.030 and services provided to the recipient
• First Aid/CPR certificate on adults required
• Confirmed service in the industry with advance training in behavioral, medical or caregiver services is preferred.
• Must be reliable and dependable
• Provide a copy of your driving record now and every 6 months thereafter.
• Provide a copy of a negative TB test and one every year thereafter
• Responsible for keeping up with and paying for 12 CEU hours yearly (roughly $34.95 a year)
