If you have experience handling VA compensation claims and a passion for helping Vets beat the VA, this is the attorney position for you. Tucker Disability Law fights for veterans all over the country. Our agency-based practice will allow you to strategize tactics and develop evidence for deserving clients at the RO and BVA. While we handle cases before the CAVC, court practice is not our focus. We take cases to the Veterans Court when we cannot get VA to accept our position at the RO or Board. We are a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals working to get veterans and their survivors the disability compensation to which they are entitled.
We have team members in 5 different states. This is a full-time position that may be done remotely or in our office in St. Petersburg, Florida.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Personally represent clients in the prosecution of appeals before the VA Regional Office, BVA or the CAVC, including developing evidence and extensive research and writing of letter briefs and appellate filings.
- Maintain excellent relationships with clients, including delivering legal services that are personalized to each client's situation.
- Respond to written and telephonic inquiries from clients.
- Represent veterans before the Regional Office, and before Veterans Law Judges at the BVA and in appeals to the CAVC.
- Maintain effective communication and personal relationships with represented clients through mail, telephone, and email.
- Supervise and train legal assistants as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current veteran statutes, regulations, and case law through personal research and by attending CLE training, subject to approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- No less than 1 to 2 full years of actual experience handling VA compensation claims for veterans OR 2 years of experience as an attorney at the Board of Veterans Appeals or Clerking for the CAVC
- Law Degree and Bar Admission in at least one State
- Past military service is a plus
- Empathy for those with disabilities; and
- A commitment to fighting for veterans to obtain the benefits they earned.
