Summary:

The Summer Camp Coordinator will assist in planning and managing camp activities on site. This is a seasonal position starting June 1, 2024 ending August 23, 2024. Weekly hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30a-4:30p, and Friday 8:30a-12:30p.

Essential functions:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of Building Abilities Summer Experience.
• Train, supervise and support camp staff.
• Maintain the highest standards of service delivery and documentation in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Provide excellent person-centered customer service to participants and their families.
• Complete service documentation including activity records as required.
• Provide coverage when needed for participants.
• Collaborate with Day Services team to create and implement program content/curricula.
• Act as liaison with facility contacts in a professional manner.
• Communicate timely and professionally with Day Services management, TDAS staff, and families. This includes email, phone, and text.
• Remain at facility until last camper is picked up regardless of the time.

Other duties:

• Act as an Ambassador for TD&AS, promoting TD&AS and its programs to community members and professional contacts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

• Knowledge of the IDD service system.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to independently organize projects, determine priorities and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years experience working with individuals with IDD and/or autism preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to transport participants in personal vehicle (including valid driver’s license, registration, and current auto insurance)
• Must have full availability June 1st – August 23rd. Program is closed on Juneteenth and Fourth of July.

Work environment:

• Work is primarily performed at Building Abilities Summer Experience, Kirk of Kildaire location.
• Evening work flexibility is required.

Physical Demands:

• Work involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, using hands to handle objects or operate tools, and driving a vehicle.
• May be required to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, physically transfer individuals, and perform CPR / First Aid.

Pay: $17.50/hr
