Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.       Distribution Center Manager


      Summary

      The Distribution Center Manager provides direction, coaching and training to the warehouse employees and ensures safety, quality and delivery standards are maintained at all times. The Distribution Center Manager will facilitate processing incoming stock and materials, picking orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, cutting and slitting belts, and organizing the warehouse. The Distribution Center Manager recruits and directly manages the warehouse employees to ensure staffing levels support the customers’ delivery requirements.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities

      • Observe and follow safety rules as prescribed by the safety policies, including wearing required PPE. Completes an expected amount of work based on time studies in accordance with schedule. Able to operate all necessary equipment in a proficient manner.
      • Supervise warehouse employees and oversee daily operations, including full-time and temporary staffing and performance management.
      • Enforce all company rules and regulations.
      • Schedule all inbound/outbound shipments.
      • Handle all RGAs.
      • Order all warehouse supplies.
      • Maintain the maintenance and safety of all machines.
      • Keep logs of forklift maintenance for safety and ensure compliance.
      • Train and enforce strict compliance of OSHA regulations as they apply to warehouse operations.
      • Ensure all warehouse employees are using the safety equipment given.
      • Perform daily Gemba Safety Walks.
      • Responsible for safety of all non-warehouse personnel in the warehouse.
      • Track employee attendance and tardiness.
      • Inspect warehouse for safety, cleanliness and organization.
      • Have weekly safety meetings with warehouse staff.
      • Work closely with Warehouse Supervisor.
      • Work with Inside Sales
      • Maintain regular and timely attendance.
      • Follow and reinforce company’s policies and procedures.

      Knowledge and Skills Requirements

      • High school Diploma, GED, Technical/Trade School or equivalent experience with 2 years supervision experience
      • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
      • 5 years’ experience in retail or e-commerce
      • Excellent organizational and time management skills
      • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics
      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
      • Solid basic math skills using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
      • Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, scales)
      • Ability to be trained/certified on powered industrial truck (P.I.T.)
      • Comfortable using computers - Outlook, Word, Excel and internet
      • May use banding or shrink wrap machines
      • Understand stock locater system
