Distribution Clerk performs a variety of clerical, customer service, and administrative duties to support operations of a distribution center. Monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels are available to fulfill all orders. Being a Distribution Clerk ensures that all required paperwork, including labels, packing lists, and transport instructions, is prepared. Utilizes tracking systems to input or look up information. Additionally, Distribution Clerk complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Distribution Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     JOB DEFINITION:
     
    Under general supervision, the District Delivery Person receives, stores, retrieves, sorts, distributes and transports a wide variety of equipment, supplies, materials, and mail for the district schools, departments, and various operations; does other work as required. Non-routine phases of the work are referred to the Nutrition Services Supervisor or Distribution Manager. Decisions and determinations are based on clearly defined procedures or instructions. This position requires a knowledge and application of traffic safety rules and regulations. Responsibility for getting along with others includes regular contact with students, school staff and the public. The District Delivery Person works under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Supervisor or designee.
     
     
    NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK:
     
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Loads supplies on transport carts as necessary.
    2. Delivers food, equipment, mail, and supplies to the correct district centers and schools.
    3. Loads specially designed containers of food for delivery to the schools and district centers in a truck equipped for this purpose.
    4. Adheres to a schedule to ensure that food is delivered on time for serving to school staff and students.
    5. Picks up, sorts and delivers incoming and out going district mail.
    6. Responsible for pick and delivery of large amounts of money from school and district centers to the bank on a daily basis.
    7. Consistently represents Bend-La Pine School district in a positive, professional manner and focuses on strong customer service.
    8. Assures the consistent and timely delivery of mail and supplies throughout the District.
    9. Assist the Distribution Manager in the receiving, storing and distributing of products.
    10. Unloads trucks, delivery vans and other vehicles manually or with a pallet jack or forklift.
    11. Assist in the cleaning of the Distribution Center.
    12. Helps the Distribution Manager organize the U.S. Mail and other deliveries to achieve maximum savings and service to the district centers.
    13. Transports commodities between schools and central kitchen keeping some records to assure accurate inventories.
    14. Assures the return and cleanliness of food transport containers.
    15. Provides for the care, cleaning, and maintenance of the transport truck.
    16. Reports maintenance needs of truck.
    17. Puts on and removes tire chains on vehicle as needed.
    18. Follows rules of health, safety and sanitation.
    19. Cares for transport carts to prevent damage or spillage.
    20. Fulfills other related duties as assigned.
    21. Fulfills performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.
    22. Fulfills working conditions and physical effort listed below.

     
     
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
     
    The moving and partial lifting of containers weighing in excess of 100 pounds is required on a daily basis. Carts must be pushed onto a power tailgate. Exposure to inclement weather and the hazards associated with vehicular travel are routine for this position.
     
     
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
     
    Knowledge:

    • Methods and practices of receiving, storing, issuing and shipping a variety of materials, supplies and equipment.
    • Operation of truck, forklift, pallet jack, power sweeping machine and other equipment as necessary.
    • Delivery and pick-up routes.
    • Safety regulations to protect truck, food and transport equipment.

     
    Skills and Abilities:
     
    Possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • Read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
    • Print and write legibly.
    • On occasion may need to supervise student workers and train other staff.
    • Maintain a high level of commitment to completion of all tasks.
    • Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials, and money as required by the position.
    • Adhere to the district requirement for a drug-free workplace.
    • Attend regularly-scheduled team meetings.

     
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
     
    High school diploma; basic ability use grammar, spelling, and punctuation is required, as well as the ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic.
     
    The position requires a limited knowledge of simple work procedures or methods. Some knowledge of School District practices or job routines may be necessary for proficiency. On-the-job learning time could range from one week to one month; there is some variety, but procedures are largely repetitive.  Job proficiency can be acquired in up to six months.
     
     
     
    CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING:
     
    Possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver's license and maintain an insurable status for automobile and liability coverage, as required by the position.
