EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. The Electroencephalographic Technician (EEG Technician) performs neurodiagnostic procedures according to the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists guidelines. The position can perform test set up, electrode application, and maintain patient safety during clinically significant events and other related duties. Provides findings, results and a descriptive analysis according to the facility policy and procedures. Strong well-developed communication skills are essential for this position.
Work Hours: Full-time 12 hour day shift; 8:00am-8:30pm/ on call, rotating weekend shifts approximately once every 8-10 weeks.
