EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an EEG Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

  • Purpose of Job

    This position is responsible for performing high quality and accurate neurodiagnostic exams in accordance with established procedures.

    Job Functions

    1.  Interacts with patients, providers and staff in a professional and courteous manner to ensure safety for our patients.
    2. Performs high quality and accurate EEG examinations.
    3. Prepares EEG test results.
    4. Assists with calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure patient safety and proper working order.
    5. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education/Work Experience

    • Graduate of an accredited school of EEG/Neurodiagnotics technology  
    • Ability to write registration examination 

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

    • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
    • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
    • Strong computer skills and basic Microsoft Office applications 
    • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
    • Ability to work autonomously and as a team
    • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal communication in order to complete job functions as mentioned above 

    License/Certification

    • Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification 

    Preferred Qualifications 

    • EMG education/experience 
    • Prefer 1 year experience
