EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. MAIN FUNCTION:
The technician is responsible for processing EKG's, applying Holter Monitors/Event Monitors under the direction and supervision of the lab manager as well as typing and filing responsibilities and scheduling appointments. Reports to the EEG Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

** 3. Operates computer in Quadramed, tracks orders, and enters charges for lab.
** 4. Hooks up and transmits ambulatory holter monitors and event monitors for Arnot Health/AMS Providers.
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
One-year experience in healthcare related field required.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICIAL DEMANDS:
Frequent lifting of 40-50 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, twist is needed. Appreciable physical effort or strain required.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. But employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
