C-VILLE Weekly is looking for a part-time copy editor!
The copy editor aids the editorial team in preparing stories for publication and maintaining the unique style of the paper in print and online. This position is crucial to the operation of the paper by promoting clarity and readability in each article, but it also affords opportunities to help bring out the heart of a story—as an alt-weekly, our audience expects stories to be presented with voice and personality, and the copy editor’s role helps to bring those aspects to the forefront. The copy editor will work directly with the lead editor, culture editor, art director, and news reporter, and will be expected to contribute story ideas during team meetings. C-VILLE’s copy editor may also write stories for our various magazines as assigned.
An ideal candidate will have significant writing, editing, or journalism experience, familiarity with AP Style, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
