CINCINNATI MUSEUM CENTERSpecialist, Museum Engagement (PT, Seasonal)Reports to: Director, Museum EngagementDepartment: Museum EngagementFLSA Status: PT SEASONAL, Non-Exempt /Hourly (September 2023 to January 2024)Compensation: $15.00/hourThe statements below reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the major responsibilities of the identified position and are not to be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.Position Overview:Cincinnati Museum Center’s Museum Engagement department is the front-facing team across the gallery spaces in the Cincinnati History Museum, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History and Science, the Children's Museum, and Featured Exhibitions. This team ensures guests have a safe, enriching, and educational experience through engaging with guests and running hands-on activities. Additionally, the specialist will work with teams across Cincinnati Museum Center to deliver a seamless, positive experience to our guests and Members.This is a seasonal position running ONLY DURING THE PERIOD OF September 2023 to January 2024.
Responsibilities/Duties:- Fulfill floor operations duties, including gallery interpretation and programming, coverage across multiple gallery spaces, ticket taking duties and opening/closing responsibilities.
- Represent Cincinnati Museum Center with credibility, curiosity, and a sense of radical welcome. Model and uphold the highest standards of customer service and inclusion, so that all Cincinnati Museum Center guests feel welcome and engaged.
- Partake in specialized training for delivery techniques and exhibit and program content.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, volunteers, guests, and exhibits.
- Work collaboratively with other Cincinnati Museum Center team members, adult and youth volunteers, and interns to create a cohesive and comprehensive visitor experience for Cincinnati Museum Center guests.
- Scan tickets and check Memberships at each entry and provide information on exhibits, programs and events.
- Ensure safety of all guests by adhering to Cincinnati Museum Center’s procedures and by holding self, other staff and volunteers and guests to the safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in customer service, museums, non-traditional education settings, or early childhood education a plus.
- 1 years of experience teaching, performing, hospitality, customer service and/or large venue/attractions operations preferred; or a combination of related education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Self-motivated and proactive; curious and able to learn new information quickly.
