Electric Meter Installer and Repairer jobs in Maryland

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Vanguard Utility Services is a privately held company that is dedicated to the resourceful use of water. We have been delivering automated metering solutions to address the unique challenges facing the water industry for over 20 years.

We are looking for qualified water meter installers, plumbers, pipe fitters, irrigation specialists, or related industry technicians, with at least 1 year experience in one or all related fields of work.

DESCRIPTION:

Vanguard is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join its team. Vanguard Utility Service has partnered with Howard County, MD to install water meters within the County. The County's water meter upgrade project resumes in April 2023 & Vanguard is looking to fill a few remaining water meter technician positions. If you are a self-starter, quality minded, enjoy working outdoors, and looking for a chance to earn unlimited compensation, this may be the right position for you.

· Conduct utility water meter services throughout assigned areas

· Safely and efficiently install the water meters accurately and associated equipment with various hand tools and manage your daily allotment of inventory

· Read & record data information accurately in a mobile hand-held device, basic computer skills are helpful

· Follow standard operating procedures and company policies

· Communicate with utility customers effectively and respectfully

· Receive and return utility meters, tools, equipment, and supplies each day

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous similar work history preferred
• Able to bend, stoop, walk constantly and lift 40 lbs.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone 90% of the time, while still being part of a local team.
• Ability to assemble and disassemble plumbing components
• Must be able to work well with hand-held electronic devices.
• Must be able to work outdoors and withstand the regional, seasonal weather.
• Should have reliable transportation.
• Strong work ethic and dependable; Consistent attendance is imperative.
• Must have a valid driver's license & reliable work vehicle with current insurance.
• Must be drug-free, able to pass employment background check, and have a clean driving record.
• You must be able to pass the County's background check & become a badged County representative
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
• Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
• Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.

This is a piece rate position, wages are based on number of meters installed.

Current pay scale for this job is piece rate at $18 per install.

A MININUM of 10-16 installs are required daily.

Benefits offered after 60 days.
