Emergency Medical Technician jobs in New York
Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Summary: Emergency Medical Technicians are responsible for providing pre-hospital, emergency treatment. As well as non-emergency inter-facility treatment for bed-bound patients.
Applicant Requirements:
- Valid NY, NJ, PA EMT Certification or National Registry
- Valid Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
- Ability to pass a Drug Test
- Ability to lift 250lb, on a stretcher, with assistance from a partner EMT
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of EMT-B Skills
- Minimum age 23 to drive an ambulance
EMS Experience is preferred, but we will welcome newly certified EMTs.
CEVO / EVOC or experience driving larger vehicles is preferred.
