Employee Communications Director manages the development and implementation of all internal communication programs within an organization. Oversees the design and implementation of communication programs to support and reinforce organizational objectives and comply with regulations. Being an Employee Communications Director manages project deliverables and timelines. Ensures consistent messaging themes and effective content selections. Additionally, Employee Communications Director manages the collaboration with public relations or corporate communications teams to produce clear and consistent communications. Assists in evaluating and selecting vendors to provide support services. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Employee Communications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Employee Communications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Responsibilities

    Our marketing department is seeking a Director of Communications to oversee our communications team and manage PR and corporate communications. This individual will be responsible for our communications strategy and overall content engagement. 

     

    Public Relations

    • Manage PR vendor’s strategy, relationship and day-to-day operational expectations and performance.
    • Coordinate content for, provide quality assurance and ensure appropriate approvals for all press releases and media pitches for all H.W. Kaufman Group companies.
    • Manage PR goals, deliverables and budgets for all companies within H.W. Kaufman Group.
    • Curate a database of and prepare internal subject matter experts for conversations with the media and external sources.
    • Ensure externally published articles are accurate, have been recorded and categorized in appropriate databases, and promoted appropriately on owned website, social, email, internal and other channels.
    • Develop content for and execute award submissions for teams and individuals.
    • Find new ways to showcase our company’s subject matter experts, products and technology.

    Internal Communications

    • Manage the Communications Manager and work with a communications consultant to develop and deliver internal communications (written, verbal and video) in a timely and efficient manner.
    • In coordination with the Communications Manager:
      • Develop and manage an internal communications calendar and approval process for all broadly distributed company communications.
      • Work with company and department leaders to improve the quality and effectiveness of communications.
      • Use analytics from our internal communications software (Poppulo) to drive improvements.
    • Increase awareness of and participation in our Champions & Charities program.   

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing or a related field highly preferred. 
    • The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in corporate communications either at an agency or a corporation.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/Word).
    • Experience with Poppulo or another internal communications program. 
    • Basic graphic design and video editing skills preffered.
    • High level of attention to detail and adaptability.
    • Experience in a multiple deadline driven environment and ability to provide quick turnaround on requests.
