The Employee Relations Specialist works cooperatively with the HR Director to promote employee welfare, such as resolving human relations problems and promoting employee well-being. They interview workers and discuss personnel, human relations, and work-related problems that adversely affect morale, health, and productivity. This person also evaluates and resolves human relations and work-related problems, and meets with management to determine appropriate action. An Employee Relations Specialist explains and provides advice to workers about company and governmental laws, regulations, procedures, and need for compliance.
This position will need to have extensive knowledge of employment law and adhere to company and industry regulations at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide thorough, unbiased 360 evaluations; prepare and debrief results with the HR Director including guidance and support in addressing management and employee development and disciplinary matters.
- Assist the HR Director to develop a quality 360 evaluation process for Novo.
- Work with the HR Director to conduct thorough, unbiased investigations into concerns brought by employees, volunteers, ministry partners, or community members, prepare a written analysis of investigations with findings with recommendations, and develop a plan for resolution.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- BS/BA degree preferred, with at least 5 years of Employee Relations experience
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills; accuracy is essential
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity with all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills exemplified by exceptional communication (written and oral) and a high emotional intelligence.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law, with an interest to research additional, relevant legislation in other states
