Employee Relations Specialist
REPORTS TO: Employee Relations Manager
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources/Office of Employee Success & Engagement
POSITION OVERVIEW
Facilitates and supports all aspects of District Leave Processes and supports the Employee Relations Manager with District investigations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the Employee Relations Manager with all aspects of District investigation process.
- Assists with the coordination, preparation, and facilitation of District investigations in order to ensure a consistent investigative approach.
- Supervises the Employee Relations Clerk and supports all leave processes and audits leave data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and maintain communication and online information regarding leaves.
- Participates in due process meetings as assigned.
- Coordinates and conducts work accommodation meetings.
- Supports and assists with District work restriction and work comp return to work processes.
- Participates in administrative trainings and meetings, Departmental staff meetings, District committees, seminars, conferences, etc. in order to ensure that District procedures and Board policies are consistently and accurately applies as it relates to Employee Relations.
- Prepares reports as required by the Employee Relations Manager.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of applicable state and federal employment, labor and compliance laws and requirements in order to assist with the development and oversight of District policies and procedures relating to department matters.
- Receives and responds to emails, written correspondence and telephone inquiries regarding Board Policies, Joint Resolutions, District practices and employee relations items.
- Work collaboratively with the Employee Relations Manager to analyze District data to determine process improvements and relevant training.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Equity to ensure equitable outcomes for employees who are accessing the work accommodations, work restriction and District leave options.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor and Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related area preferred. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred. Five years of experience in Human Resources and three years of experience with Employee Relations preferred. Knowledge of special education instructional classroom experience preferred.
