Employee Services Manager manages the selection, design, and implementation of employee engagement programs geared to attract and retain employees and promote a healthy and productive work environment. Administers programs focused on work-life, child care, fitness, discounts, remote working, education, training, and others to provide options that engage employees. Being an Employee Services Manager analyzes and assesses program utilization, employee feedback, competitiveness, and workforce productivity to ensure that a cost-effective mix of programs is offered. Reviews and researches complex questions and identifies opportunities to improve employee engagement and work experience. Additionally, Employee Services Manager implements policies and procedures to guide department workflow to control program costs, promoting efficiency and optimizing administrative hours delegated to programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Employee Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Employee Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     This Manager of Education and Employee Health manages educational programs for all staff, assists with quality control, and is responsible for employee health and new employee orientation.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensures maximum educational opportunities for staff.
    • Coordinates with departments to meet educational needs. Conducts and documents subject and attendance of State and Federal required in-services and topics of need and interest. Posts schedules in advance to alert staff to programs. Teaches individual or group conferences/in-services. Uses audio visual aids and conducts testing.
    • Conducts nursing in-services.
    • Conducts new employee orientation and annual in-services for nursing and non-nursing employees.
    • Maintains video library.
    • Develops and reviews policies and procedures.
    • Assists and participates in Interim and Licensure Surveys and exit interviews as requested.
    • Tests and screens nursing applicants as requested.
    • Keeps abreast of new nursing regulations.
    • Participates in studies/projects under the direction of the Director of Human Resources and/or Director of Nursing.
    • Maintains employee health records.
    • Administers TB testing, Hepatitis A & B and flu injections to employees/volunteers.
    • Meets with staff to assist in the improvement of services and correction of problem areas.
    • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to department managers concerning training programs, as requested.
    • Attends industry and professional offerings to stay abreast of information pertaining to long term care, state and federal regulations, infection control, safety, etc.
    • Establishes a priority system of training needs, and develops a training program to meet those needs.
    • Provides life safety standards training, and participates in drills. A member of the Safety and Infection Control Committee.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge and Experience Requirements

    • Graduate of a professional, registered-nursing program with current state licensure.
    • Knowledge of hazards involved with potential and/or direct exposure to blood or body fluids, communicable disease, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
    • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing skilled extended care facilities.

    Skills and Attitude Required for Succes

    • Exhibits responsibility, initiative, leadership, tact, and creativity in developing educational programs.
    • Sets an example to all staff in regards to promptness, manner, professionalism, dress/appearance, demeanor, safety, cooperation, customer service, Nursing practice, etc.
    • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting residents, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Requires correctable vision and hearing to normal range.
    • Requires working under stressful conditions, maintaining concentration, sound decision making, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
    • Must be able to perform the essential physical/mental functions/requirements of the position.

    Relationship Requirements

    • Must maintain good working relationships with CEO, Administrators, Council Members, staff members, HR Director, residents, and family members.
