Endoscopy Technician performs various direct patient care activities in the endoscopy unit under the supervision of a physician. Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly. Being an Endoscopy Technician may assist with medical procedures. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Endoscopy Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Endoscopy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Endoscopy Tech needed for busy GI Endo Center.
Duties:
-Assists in preparing patient for designated procedure as requested by physician
-Assists physician during endoscopy procedure
-Handles patient specimens per policy
-Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure, but not be limited to, assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments
-Follows manufacturer’s instructions for use for all steps of cleaning, high level disinfection or sterilization for instruments and/or equipment
-Practices appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes as appropriate to the endoscopy suite
-Regular and predictable attendance
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a GI Endoscopy Tech or in a similar role is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Note: GI Endoscopy Tech experience is a plus but not required.
