Being an Endoscopy Technician may assist with medical procedures. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Endoscopy Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Endoscopy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.   • Job Summary:

    • Under the direction of assigned department leadership, provides assistance to the patient care team with patient care and routine unit duties. Alerts RN/LPN/Physician regarding any change in patient condition or status.
    • Delivers health care to patients during the admissions, procedure and discharge phase of care.
    • Ensures proper care of technical equipment/accessories used in endoscopic procedures.
    • Responsible for the handling, cleaning and reprocessing of Endoscopy equipment as well as the care of the endoscopy patient by proficiently planning, implementing and evaluating the preparation of the endoscopy case and the endoscopy suites.
    • Assists in all endoscopy procedures including ERCP's and emergent GI procedures such as foreign body extraction and GI bleeders.
    • Assists in all Pulmonary procedures such as Bronchoscopy and Thoracentesis.
    • Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with regulatory agency requirements and standards set forth by professional organizations and employers.
    • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. One (1) year of experience in a hospital/procedural setting or endoscopy center preferred.

    MINIMAL ACCEPTABLE JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Registration/Certification/Licensure:

    • CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) within 30 days from date in position.
    • Completion of the SGNA online learner directed activity associate’s program within 6 months of date in position. This is a one-time requirement which does not require renewal.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of one year patient care experience.
    • One (1) year of experience in a hospital/procedural setting or endoscopy center preferred.

    Education:

    • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED)
