Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Assists departments and plant management in achieving safety and business objectives including: safety design process program including machine and process risk assessment and new/modified equipment safety release, contractor safety program including contractor auditing and education, new hire safety orientation including providing training for newly hired teammates.
Promote and provide technical safety to support the facilities line driven safety process. Manages assigned safety programs to ensure they are in compliance with government and corporate regulations. Conduct safety related projects which promotes and improves team member safety. Also assists with new equipment safety releases, industrial hygiene air sampling and noise monitoring, OSHA recordkeeping as well as teammate training and orientation. Provides advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee health and safety. Maintains and analyzes records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies
Leads projects or processes of diverse scope, while working independently with limited supervision
Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals
Supports continuous improvement/automation activities
Uses advanced analytical/technical problem solving to develop new solutions to existing problems/procedures
Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders

Employee/ Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of employees including:
· Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace
· Identifying potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions
· Investigating accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence
· Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee heath and safety
· Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene or other related field is preferred. Preferred credentials include: Graduate Safety Practitioner, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
