Position Description
- Provides technical support and project management in the discipline of vector management and entomology. Control nuisance and disease carrying mosquitoes within the Santee Copper Project, and at other Santee Cooper land and water resources, by performing inspections utilizing various techniques and strategies to monitor vector abundance and arbovirus presence and potential. Also provides: application of pesticides/larvicides or manual source reduction within the Santee Cooper Project and at other Santee Cooper land and water resources for control measures.
Essential Job Tasks:
- Works within Vector's Pesticide Discharge Management Plan (PDMP) and NPDES permit to monitor, analyze, and treat nuisance and disease carrying mosquitoes within the Santee Cooper project and properties applying experience and skills to complete assigned work with moderate supervision or leadership from senior team members. Will include application of EPA approved pesticides/larvicides/herbicides and manual/chemical source reduction.
- Applies EPA approved pesticides and herbicides to Santee Cooper properties making sound decisions based on policies, practices, and procedures.
- Performs basic equipment maintenance on monitoring equipment, application equipment, boats, trailers, UTV, and other various equipment used for daily operations.
- Completes paperwork/documentation required by Vector's PDMP and NPDES permit associated with pesticide application.
- Attends training and safety classes to learn necessary information to obtain and maintain required certifications.
- Expands professional and academic knowledge in subjects beneficial to Vector Management, such as Entomology, Biology, and Ecology.

Environmental Technician B
- Bachelors Degree in Entomology, Biology or other related field or Associates Degree in Natural Science 1 year experience or High School Diploma or GED 2 years experience.
- Must have experience operating tractors, mowers, small engine equipment, outboard watercraft, UTV, and forklifts.
- CDL with Hazardous Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
- South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License with South Carolina Category 5 (Aquatics), 6 (ROW), 7A (Structural), 8 (Public Health) within 12 months of hire.
Compensation Information:
$25.95 - $32.40 (min. - mid.)
Environmental Technician C
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associates Degree in Natural Science preferred.
- Must have experience operating tractors, mowers, small engine equipment, outboard watercraft, UTV, and forklifts.
- CDL with Hazardous Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
- South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License with South Carolina Category 5 (Aquatics), 6 (ROW), 7A (Structural), 8 (Public Health) within 12 months of hire.
Compensation Information:
$21.10 - $26.35 (min. - mid.)
Environmental Technician A
- Bachelors Degree in Entomology, Biology or other related field 1 year experience or Associates Degree in Natural Science 3 years experience or High School Diploma or GED 5 years experience.
- Must have South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License.
