Job Position Description:
We are a fast-paced newsroom emphasizing breaking news and weather coverage and investigative reporting. We’re looking for a news hound who wants to win the big story every day on television and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have sound news judgement and ethics and understand legal liabilities in news. This position will require someone who is a “people-person” who can lead, inspire, and work with a wide range of talented staff of all levels. Leading by example with a solutions-oriented approach is a must. This is a high-profile management position in a newsroom where culture and coaching are priorities.
The Morning EP will lead producers, anchors, reporters, photographers, and editors for our 2.5-hour morning newscast. This position will manage all content, showcasing and staffing decisions during this vital time. Being aggressive with breaking news, weather and traffic will be a major focus. This position requires attention to detail and quality control in all aspects of the newscast and digital platforms. The Morning EP will lead on content planning for the morning time and develop a system to ensure there is fresh, compelling content each morning. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing all aspects of the newsroom operation.
A degree in journalism, mass communications or equivalent experience is required. At least three years of experience producing TV newscasts and leading others required.
