Facilities Director jobs in Kansas

Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Wildwood Facilities Director is responsible to the Executive Director. This is a full-time, exempt position, with evening and weekend availability necessary for occasional scheduled events and rare unplanned emergencies.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • General Responsibilities:
    • Oversee facility, maintenance, safety, and utilities for 150 acre outdoor education center with 5 bunk houses, commercial kitchen/dining, swimming pool, and multipurpose spaces.
    • Ensure the property and facility contributes to a positive visitor experience and maintain positive relationships with Wildwood stakeholders and partners
    • Responsible for preventative maintenance and building improvements/renovations.
    • Comply with applicable regulatory and local government guidelines, OSHA and American Camp Association standards.
    • Complete and maintain required certification including pool maintenance, Kansas Small Systems Water Certifications and Kansas Class 2 Waste Water Operator Certificate.
    • Facility Responsibilities:
    • Maintain property and facilities in good operating condition at all times with priority to issues impacting camper and visitor safety and experience.
    • Manage routine and annual maintenance.
    • Inspect facilities regularly and address essential repairs needed.
    • Execute cabin and facility renovations.
    • Assist executive director with planning and managing new construction and expansion projects in keeping with the facility master plan.
    • Grounds Responsibilities:
    • Manage proper seasonal care of grounds including mowing, pond care, road maintenance and snow removal, management of invasive species and timber management.
    • Ensure adherence to lagoon management standards including mowing, weir cleaning and other corrective actions identified in monthly and quarterly inspections.
    • Oversee environmentally responsible waste management practices that maximize recycling possible.
    • Equipment & Supplies Responsibilities:
    • Proper storage of camp resources including maintenance equipment and supplies, camp recreational items and other camper resources.
    • Maintain maintenance for vehicles, tractors, golf cart, gator and mowers


    Job Competencies

    • Strong support of Wildwood Outdoor Education Center mission and values and enthusiasm to contribute to the unique camp and day program experience.
    • Competency in general maintenance knowledge and skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, machine and vehicle maintenance.
    • Proficiency in use of tractors, chain saw and other equipment competency required.
    • Must be collaborative, flexible and adaptable.
    • Organizational skills including the ability to establish daily and weekly goals.
    • Ability to adhere to established policies and procedures.
    • Ability to learn and meet requirements of various certifications, regulations and standards that may apply .
    • Mechanical aptitude.
    • Advanced problem solving skills needed.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 3-5 years facility, building trades and/or maintenance experience including plumbing, carpentry, electrical and landscape skills.
    • Vendor management experience
    • Valid drivers license and ability to pass criminal background and drivers' record checks


    Physical Demands:
    • Standing, sitting, walking up to one mile regularly, bending, climbing, crawling, twisting, pushing, pulling, grasping, squatting, lifting 50 lbs

    $50,000 - $60,000 per year
