Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     FACILITIES DIRECTOR 

    100% onsite in Summerville, SC. Oversight of two locations in Summerville, SC, Warehouse in Benicia CA, corporate headquarters in NY, and small location in Madison, WI. 

    Summerville locations consist of 1st shift, 2nd shift, and 3rd shift coverage. 

    Role will have oversight over Facilities Technicians, Facility Workers, Maintenance Mechanics, Custodians, and in-house Security Guards- team of 50

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineering Packaging Line Technician is responsible for day-to-day setup and change over direction as well as oversight, identifying the need and oversight of corrective actions, and technical oversight of the packaging line process.

    FLSA STATUS:  EXEMPT employee.

    RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

    • In accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) and applicable Thorne operating procedures:
    • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and participate in the work of staff and vendors/contractors responsible for the installation, setup, repair and maintenance of Thorne manufacturing equipment and utilities. 
    • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and participate in the work of staff and vendors/contractors responsible for the maintenance and repair of Thorne facilities & grounds maintenance, and custodial services.
    • Proactively, direct and oversee staff to establish schedules, methods, and inspections to ensure all equipment is maintained to maximize production availability and remains in as designed and/or verified state always and operates in a constant state of inspection readiness. 
    • Direct and oversee staff to establish schedules, methods, and inspections to assure areas of responsibility are maintained in a constant state of inspection-readiness, including cleanliness, and safety.
    • Train, lead, and evaluate employee performance; provide development opportunities and coaching support.
    • Keep VP, Engineering informed of potential facilities operational risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
    • Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance mechanic/technician, machinist and skilled building trade duties.
    • Identify staffing and capital needs, collect data and provide justifications in support of annual budget and capital project preparation.
    • Work with Production, Engineering, and Quality on new system installations, qualifications, or modifications.
    • Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside contractors and vendors.
    • Ensure smooth transitions and effective communication between shifts.
    • Participate in the defining and development of standards, policies and procedures, as well as staffing and capital needs.
    • Provide after-hours and weekend support for Thorne production and maintenance activities as required.
    • Provide on-call support for Thorne security/fire systems and other facility systems.
    • Identify and implement building technologies, procedures, and training to improve infrastructure and equipment efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Manage corporate security program.
    • Develop and maintain department metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
    • Work with COO and other members of the Crisis Management Committee and Teams to coordinate and support Thorne's Business Continuity and Crisis Management planning and activities.

     What You Need:

    • Associates or bachelor’s degree in a relevant area is preferred.
    • Six years of hands-on production equipment (or equivalent) maintenance experience as a mechanic/technician is required.
    • Two years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility (or equivalent) is required. 
    • Previous experience in cGMP Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Food manufacturing preferred.
    • Previous experience using a CMMS to manage work is preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Being able to meet the Physical Demands of the job is an essential duty of the job.

    • Must be able to work in a stationary position as well as move about unassisted for a 10-hour or 8- hour shift, and when necessary, in an enclosed room. 
    • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as circumstances arise during the course of a shift.
    • Must be able to operate, activate, use, prepare, and clean equipment or machinery, occasionally grasping with force and using twisting wrist movements. 
    • Must be able to hear and converse with supervisors and other employees. 
    • Must be able to see and read small print. 
    • Must be able to work in a moderate noise level environment. 
    • Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, occasionally, during a 10-hour or 8-hour shift. 
    • Must have sufficient range of motion with arms and hands to reach overhead and to the side, often repetitively, during a 10-hour or 8-hour shift. 
    • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds of materials.
