Facilities Engineer plans and implements the design of plants, offices, and production lines in order to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency. Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process. Being a Facilities Engineer researches production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs. Ensures that established efficiency and safety targets are met. Additionally, Facilities Engineer typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Facilities Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.     Ø Track performance indicators, develop corrective actions, and present progress to the management group.
    Ø Maintain and operate all utilities such as steam, power, water, and wastewater treatment.
    Ø Maintain and improve the upkeep of the physical plant and grounds.
    Ø Coordinate activities of all contractors as pertains to plant projects and maintenance functions.
    Ø Install, relocate, and modify production and support equipment as required.
    Ø Maintain plant security and fire protection systems.
    Ø Actively participate in safety, health and E.P.A. programs at the plant.
    Ø Develop or arrange for the development of training and manpower development programs.
    Ø Training required by other agencies- Hazardous Waste, Spill Prevention and Control, Hazard Communication, etc.
     
     
     
    REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
    v BS Degree
    v 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing plant doing maintenance/project engineering.
