Shuksan Healthcare Center is seeking a housekeeping/maintenance assistant.
Position Summary
Provides maintenance services to the buildings, equipment, and grounds of our Skilled Nursing Care Facility community and helps with housekeeping duties. In short, you oversee the care center community to ensure it is safe for all.
Job Duties

Serves on the leadership team at the community/care center.

Ensure that the community is safe for all residents, family members, visitors and staff where we work to provide comfortable, secure, and a thriving lifestyle.

Provide assistance in delivering preventive maintenance for the building, equipment, and grounds.

Perform repairs within area of expertise including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting and in accordance to accepted codes.

Arrange for and manage contract repairs, maintenance, and other construction services to care center/community.

Monitors and records building and water temperatures and adjusts to meet regulations and safety codes.

Ensure strict adherence to community fire safety and hazardous chemical procedures, promptly address all unsafe conditions or equipment problems.

Perform floor care on an ongoing basis, including carpeting in common areas of the community.

Remove trash gathered by housekeepers and caregivers on a daily basis.

Maintain grounds in a professional, well-groomed manner by performing grounds maintenance on a regular basis or working with a landscape company to maintain grounds in an appropriate manner. Other jobs as assigned.

Represent the facility in a professional manner while on outings.

Participates in QAPI meetings and oversees team projects as necessary.

Manages the facility Safety Committee and orients new staff to important areas of the building such as water, gas shutoff valves and location of fire extinguishers.

Reports any care concerns to the Director of Nursing.

Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility.

Ensures assigned work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

Must possess a positive attitude and understand the importance of teamwork.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Handles on-call responsibilities as required, which are subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Able to communicate positively and effectively with Resident family members and representatives.

Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Hyatt Family Facilities policies.

Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.

Follow facility dress and hygiene policies.

Follows all Safety rules and regulations and reports violations immediately.

Knows and follows the Resident Bill of Rights.

Knows and follows HIPAA regulations.
-
Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to DON.

Provides and delivers nursing duties as assigned in a timely manner.

Must meet Covid-19 Vaccinations Mandates per Washington State guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Vocational or Trade School degree in general maintenance OR

Experience: Three years of experience in carpentry, electrical or painting work. Experience with budgets is helpful.

Licenses: A valid drivers’ license and access to a vehicle for business use

Ability to make independent decisions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Meets all health requirements, as required by law. Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other center staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
