Facilities Manager manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Manager monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Manager trains supervisors and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Facilities Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The position involves daily management of the BISSELL Facilities Team, mailroom, and outlet store, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to facilities management.

     

    Responsible for implementing safety policies in compliance with local laws and regulations, the Facilities Manager collaborates closely with the maintenance team and external service providers to ensure efficient operations. Additionally, the role involves recommending new building standards, maintaining facilities to BISSELL standards, and managing repairs, improvements, and maintenance across various building systems.

     

     


    Responsibilities

    In support of Facilities leadership, the Facilities Manager will:

    • Manage staff and budgets for Facilities, Mailroom, and Outlet Store.
    • Direct activities ensuring proper repair and maintenance of all BISSELL facilities and grounds in North America.
    • Lead cost reduction initiatives related to energy, labor, services, and materials.
    • Manage internal and external resources (vendors) for project completion within budget and timelines.
    • Lead facilities planning for capital projects, coordinating electrical, HVAC, and plumbing activities.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date building services drawings using CAD and other relevant software.
    • Manage Building Management System (BMS) for optimal heating and cooling.
    • Communicate and coordinate fire, safety, and security inspections, implementing solutions as needed.
    • Be on-call for off-hour plant emergencies, occasionally requiring weekend and night-time work.

    Required Experience / Education:

    • Associates of Science in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management Degree and 5 years relevant, practical work experience, OR
    • 10 years of relevant, practical work experience.

    Preferred Experience / Education: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or relevant experience.  FMP and or PMP certification. 

    Specialized Training or Skills Required:

    • Understanding and familiarity with building codes, regulations, and other requirements.
    • Proficiency in Auto CAD/Revit, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and Office Suite, FM Systems CAFM, Bluebeam Revu/Adobe.
