FACILITIES SUPERVISOR supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and support of buildings, grounds, and facilities systems. Oversees staff installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management. Being a FACILITIES SUPERVISOR tracks work orders and ensures work follows established service and quality standards for completion. Schedules and supervises preventative maintenance, painting, or carpentry projects. Additionally, FACILITIES SUPERVISOR maintains a safe and effective working environment that complies with regulations and laws. May coordinate work to be completed by contractors and skilled trades. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. The FACILITIES SUPERVISOR supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a FACILITIES SUPERVISOR typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance to join our West Hartford, CT team.
    The Supervisor reports to the Manager of Operational Excellence and is responsible to meet and exceed safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics in a manufacturing environment. The incumbent will directly supervise 20 maintenance bargaining unit employees. In this role, you will schedule work for both 1st & 2nd shifts direct labor employees and hold these employees accountable for meeting maintenance deliverables while maintaining 100% product quality and ensuring a safe working environment.
    Responsibilities
    The successful candidate will be a dynamic multitasking team player with solid experience with leading maintenance employees in a manufacturing environment. Must have prior experience managing bargaining unit personnel, lean manufacturing, process flow optimization, and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include:

    • Select, hire, train, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work of bargaining unit employees.
    • Address employee issues in accordance with Company policy and the union contract.
    • Troubleshoot, and resolve problems, analyze work orders, establish time estimates, and create production schedules that meet internal and external needs and demands.
    • Establish and/or adjust work projects to meet budgets, schedules, and delivery expectations.
    • Interpret specifications, process instructions, blueprints, and work orders to assist employees with their assigned duties.
    • Plan and coordinate the flow of materials through the department to respond to production demands. Direct staff in adjusting projects/equipment to meet production specifications.
    • Support all functions of the business to minimize production delays and reduce the down time of Equipment.
    • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
    • Lead department initiatives to implement Continuous Improvements/Lean initiatives and quality improvements.
    • Develop and implement a robust Preventative Maintenance program to across the shop.
    • Develop and implement an effective training programs to improve production employee skill sets.
    • Developing Root Cause and Corrective Action improvements to our processes.
    • Drive a work environment of Increasing Safety Awareness and supervise departmental Health & Safety Risk Assessments. Qualifications
    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: In addition to the key responsibilities outlined above, the successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    • Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, business, or a technical field preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Previous supervisory experience managing bargaining unit employees preferred.
    • Strong business acumen coupled with mental aptitude and motivation to learn.
    • Excellent communications and presentation skills.
    • Demonstrate initiative and advanced interpersonal skills in team problem solving situations, relationship building and aligning with business goals.
    • MS Office equivalent, Project Management tools experience is a plus.
    • Familiarity with export controls regulations (ITAR/EAR) is a plus.
    • Lean Practitioner certification and/or experience at reducing waste a plus. Benefits
