Field Service Manager manages field service personnel to provide effective on-site support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Plans and oversees installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of products/equipment to ensure proper function and maximize uptime. Being a Field Service Manager oversees the scheduling and training of field service representatives. Handles service contracts and directs support services. Additionally, Field Service Manager develops methods, guidelines, and policies to facilitate efficient service delivery. Reviews service reports to monitor service performance and enhance customer satisfaction. Ensures all customer issues are satisfactorily resolved, utilizing engineering, manufacturing, and other teams as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Field Service Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Service Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. You may be interested in the Field Service Engineer position that we have available! It's an opportunity to join a team that meets the 24/7 data center needs of local customers with a focus on delivering exceptional service with each interaction. This position will require driving to different customer sites for assigned service calls throughout the Washington DC area. When participating in the on-call rotation, our field service technicians may have to drive to any one of these locations at any time of the day or night. You will use your own vehicle and be reimbursed for travel expenses. Additionally, you will be expected to participate in periodic training and at times travel out of state.
Here's what this position is all about:
- Maintain and repair data center hardware equipment (primarily mid to high-end servers and other storage devices) of assigned accounts
- Understand and deliver on response time, follow up, and resolution commitments to customers and teammates in order to build trust and ensure loyalty
- Engage Purchasing department for parts inventory, Technical Support partners for escalation process, and local Sales team to help exceed customer expectations
- Complete ongoing training in order to develop and/or maintain technical acumen
What will help you be successful in this position:
- Strong troubleshooting skills with at least a basic knowledge of computer hardware
- On-call availability for 24x7 customer needs as part of a scheduled rotation throughout the service team
- General field service experience preferred
