Field Superintendent - Construction jobs in the United States

Excellent opportunity for Field Superintendent to join our team in Brookings, SD! Mills Construction is a great team made up of 7 smaller teams. This Superintendent will lead the 8^th team.  Applicants must value respect and have a strong work ethic with physical strength, and endurance, working well with your hands. The Field Superintendent is a supervisor who oversees a project and can direct all crew members and subcontractors while working alongside them. The amount of management versus hands-on labor will vary based on the specific project scope.

What you will do!

• Provide leadership and organization on assigned field projects.
• Oversee and manage all employees assigned to his/her projects.
• On-Site Subcontractor Management
• On-Site Communication with Owners, Architects, & Engineers
• Equipment management as it applies to assigned field projects.
• Establish and resolve all project issues through teamwork with the project team.               
• All phases of light duty commercial construction with wood and steel building products
• Work in a team while giving instructions and safety guidelines
• Use tools and building materials to build commercial projects
• Ensure proper use of Company’s assets.
• Ensure safety of all staff members and the overall construction site
• Ensure  timely completion of each project.
• Ensure profitability of each project.
• Solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated equal with assigned responsibilities. These include safety, productivity, quality control, material and inventory control/planning, maintenance and care for tools, blueprint/plan reading, reporting and paperwork accuracy.
• Report to the project manager for all project related issues. Report to the VP of Operations for all other areas.

What qualifications you need!

• Minimum of 6 years of fulltime on the job construction experience with at least 3 years supervisory experience managing employees.
• Must have an advanced knowledge of at least one type of construction and a basic knowledge of all types of construction including commercial, wood, and steel construction.
• Be physically fit with no physical limitations, strong enough to lift at least 75 pounds and agile as the position requires the ability to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, etc.
