Financial Counselor

The Financial Counselor position is a Full Time, 40 hour per week position.

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston, in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems. The Financial Counselor is responsible for providing patients with a positive financial experience by helping patients navigate and understand insurance benefits and potential financial liability. Financial Counselors are the patient’s point of contact for financial assistance questions.

Responsibilities

• Collects payments for Inpatient and Outpatient services by meeting directly with patients
• Sets up payment arrangements
• Creates Estimates
• Advises patients in person and over the phone on their insurance benefits and coverage
• Keeps the hospital informed of high medical responsibilities and changes in insurance
• Calls for Self pay collections
• Assist patients will eligibility for government programs
• Updates and delivers morning census reports
• Sorts Business Office Mail
• Deposits remote checks
• Responsible for collecting and submitting Physician billing

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in business, finance, healthcare administration or related field preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in patient financial collections or billing in an inpatient or outpatient facility
• Preferred Certified Application Counselor (CAC) Mass Health
• Excellent interpersonal skills
