Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description

    Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) is a state agency of Florida. Its headquarters are in Tallahassee, the Sunshine State s Capital City. DFS is seeking a candidate to join it s Office of Information Technology Team to serve as the Director of Application Development.

    We are looking for someone to provide the leadership, vision, and direction for the Application Services team within the Office of Information Technology. This team provides support for the DFS business lines, and other related systems. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader, excellent communicator, have demonstrable expertise in project management, and above all be customer and team focused. Manage and supervise assigned technical and support staff; work closely with stakeholders from across DFS to define and implement technology enhancements and solutions; and be responsible for planning, implementation, and programming of applications systems, including overall design, development, integration, and maintenance.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, & Experience

    Knowledge of:

    Principles of project management; Computer programming languages and utilities; Advanced principles and techniques of systems analysis, design, computer programming, and documentation; System and application security requirements; Principles and techniques of troubleshooting and performance monitoring; Basic accounting and budget preparation; and Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

    Skilled in:

    Strong oral and written communications, interpersonal relations, management, and supervisory skills; Strong background in the management and support of business system applications; and Proficient in the English language.

    Ability to:

    Ability to display tact and diplomacy when assisting customers, coworkers, consultants and vendors; Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple, concurrent and conflicting priorities and deadlines; Organize, prioritize, and track tasks, requests, and projects effectively; Build and lead diverse, high performance teams; Promote train, supervise, and evaluate staff; Instruct, write, and listen effectively; Interpret and resolve complex problems; Establish and meet schedules and timelines; Acquire and maintain current technological and regulatory knowledge; Author and assemble professional documentation; Maintain business records; establish, maintain, and foster positive productive and cooperative and harmonious working relationships; Maintain business communications; and, Work productively and efficiently with minimal oversight.

    Experience and Education:
    • Over 10 years of progressive experience in applications support, software implementation, database and application development including web services.
    • At least 5 years with direct IT project management and managing technical support staff.
    • Minimum of 5 years of extensive experience and proficient knowledge of cloud computing technologies?
    • Experience with managing a customer service-oriented department.
    • Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field is A bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field may substitute for the required years of experience. An associate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
    Master s Preferred in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
