The salary range listed is for a Fire Prevention Trainee. After successful completion of required certifications, compensation will transition to the appropriate step plan salary structure.

Eligibility Requirements
The eligibility requirements to be a City of Arlington Fire Prevention Inspector Trainee are established by the Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 143 and the City of Arlington's Fire Department Civil Service Commission Local Rules. The following represents part of these initial eligibility requirements.

Complete an online City of Arlington Fire Prevention Inspector Trainee Exam Application by Wednesday, March 27, 2024. After submitting the completed application, if you are qualified to take the exam, an email will be sent with additional details and instructions for the test.

An applicant may be eligible for 5 (five) additional points on their passing score if they have served a minimum of 180 consecutive days on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States, and received an honorable discharge or has a letter from their Battalion Commander or equivalent or higher, stating that they will ETS (Expiration Term of Service) within 90 days of employment and has the expectation of receiving an honorable discharge if:
