Fleet Manager manages the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Oversees scheduling and dispatch operations for vehicles and drivers. Being a Fleet Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Fleet Manager administers insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participates in claim resolution. Develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Fleet Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Fleet Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsible for overseeing all aspects of a fleet of trucks. Their main task is to ensure the fleet is well-maintained, meets legal requirements, and is operated efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize costs. They are responsible for managing and developing relationships with drivers to increase overall driver satisfaction and to improve driver retention. They also work closely with drivers to coordinate deliveries and ensure they arrive at their destination on time. Communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential to succeed in this role.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage a staff of drivers to ensure high delivery of customer service and fleet profitability.
    • Perform all aspects of dedicated customer service including, load booking and service failure resolution.
    • Manage daily planning of equipment and drivers while ensuring high utilization.
    • Act as liaison between the customer, drivers, and internal departments.
    • Develop relationships with drivers to improve driver performance and encourage retention.
    • Authorize pay related items.
    • Ensure safety procedures are followed.
    • Help create and manage customized Key Parameter Indicators (KPI) to help ensure goal attainment.

    This individual will work out of our office in Kalama from 9am to 6pm Monday-Friday.
