  • Yost Foods is a growing company seeking a full-time Food Technologist to join our team in Brunswick, OH! Our Food Technologist will be responsible for new product development, product duplication, application testing, and related activities.

    Schedule: Full-Time Mon-Fri 8am-5pm; in person at our Brunswick, OH location. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.

    A Day in the Life of a Food Technologist:

    • Develop new product concepts and prototypes including all stages of bench product development
    • Understand project objectives and organize product development tasks to meet the given timelines
    • Identify, select, and evaluate new raw materials
    • Generate and maintain accurate and complete records on all tests performed
    • Ensure that products developed meet all food safety and quality requirements
    • Perform manual and automated testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
    • Work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team; manage multiple assignments simultaneously
    • Assist in product and process optimization projects and problem resolution with Product Development, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Operations, and other departments as assigned
    • Provide technical support to Quality Assurance, Production and other departments as required
    • Effectively communicate with customers, sales account managers and other related departments

     

    What you need to succeed:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other related field required
    • 1-3 years of experience in food research and development preferred
    • Basic knowledge of food laws and regulations including ingredient declarations required
    • Basic computer skills including but not limited to: record keeping, word processing, spreadsheets, Microsoft Suites, etc. required
    • Basic understanding of formulas, maintaining proper R&D documentation, food manufacturing operations, equipment, and production facilities required
    • Familiarity with the following industries is preferred:
      • Dressings & Sauces
      • Refrigerated/Frozen Foods
      • Snack foods
      • Ice cream
      • Seasonings
    • Ability to work in a team setting and individually
