This posting is being used to recruit for positions available at our Port Orchard Office at the Washington Veterans Home Port Orchard.
This position involves conducting in person and telephone interviews with veterans about the issues they want to file a claim for to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Informs the claimant of all evidence requirements needed to further process a claim for compensation or pension benefits.
Ability to critique and evaluate claim submissions received by peer employees’ and volunteers throughout the State of Washington and provide guidance.
Work collaboratively with other accredited agencies and personnel in an open office layout with varying degrees of management present.
Interpret VA Rating Letters, Award Letters, Codesheets, procedures and state law.
Assist veterans with determinations as to eligibility for the type of benefit sought to include questions relating to adequacy of military service; adequacy of medical evidence and lay testimony to establish a claim.
Utilizes various electronic data processing (Vetraspec) systems for inputting data; for claims processing, documents, forms, and communication for correspondence preparation to inform the claimant, and any service officer/claims consultant on the basis for the action taken.
Refers veterans to other Federal Agencies and State and Local Agencies when potential eligibility for non-VA Benefits is indicated.
Hours: Monday thru Friday (7:30 to 4:00)
