Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Duties and Responsibilties
Grant and Fundraising Management
- identify and write grants and contracts that Coincide with the Mission of Home of the Brave.
- Administer and maintain grants and contracts as directed by the grand and contract guidelines
- Bill-out grants/contracts monthly consistent with grant/contract guidelines
- Prepare necessary materials for, and participate in, annual monitoring activities from grant/contract agencies (for example Dept. of Vet. Affair
-Comply with grant/contract requiremnts such as pre-bid and compliance seminars.
- Liaison with grant consultant
- Suggest and assist in planning and implementing fundraisers
Fiscal management
- Prepare yearly budget and concert with treasurer.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for the board of directors.
- Seek out beds annually for insurance needs liability, commercial, health, Etc.
- Prepare necessary materials for, and participate in, annual external audit review.
- Ensure compliance with sound fiscal policies and guard against fraud, waste and abuse.
- Project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously
Documentation/record keeping management
- Record, type and file board meeting minutes.
- Prepare and file program documents.
- Secure and maintain all employee files, financial documents and other confidential materials and centralized location as required from retention or review.
Human resource management
- Hire, train, supervised, evaluate and terminate, if necessary, program staff.
- Maintain a competent core of individuals to conduct the services and program of home of the brave to ensure shift coverage.
- Mediate any staff/program conflicts and seek assistance from the board of directors as needed.
- Seek out and arrange continuing education slash professional development opportunities for self and staff.
- Executes compensation program based on established parameters.
Maintenance
- Recommend to the board, any capital expenditures or purchases of new equipment as needed following directives from the financial policies and procedures.
- Qualification requirements
Education: bachelor's degree in social service, management, human resources or related field.
