General Summary:
Under general supervision of maintenance supervisor, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Will have skills in many different crafts.
Repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings and work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems.
Build partitions, make plaster or drywall repairs, and fix or paint roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, and other parts of building structures.
Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, laundries, hospitals, stores, offices, and factories.
Typical duties include troubleshooting and fixing faulty electrical switches, repairing air-conditioning motors, and unclogging drains.
New buildings sometimes have computer-controlled systems that allow maintenance workers to make adjustments in building settings and monitor for problems from a central location.
Must be able to use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices
Replace or fix worn or broken parts, where necessary, or adjust to correct malfunctioning equipment and machines.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Following a checklist, they may inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions.
Must keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work conducted.
Create and maintain Activity Hazard Analysis
Assists other trades in basic carpentry and other basic construction/maintenance tasks.
May be required to do grounds maintenance
Assist others as part of the maintenance team as required
Knowledge, Experience and Skill
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
Be able to read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to pass a background check
Valid Driver License required with a good driving record
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
May involve minor safety hazards where likely result
would be cuts, bruises, etc.
