Genetics Counselor jobs in Arkansas

Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice.     Summary of Job Duties:The Program Manager will oversee the Cancer Genetics program, focusing on new patient intake, patient support during genetics evaluation, and coordination with multidisciplinary care teams. Responsibilities include identifying and addressing barriers to care, coordinating patient visits and appointments, tracking quality indicators, managing program budget, procurement, invoicing, policy development, and faculty support.Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field of study PLUS Four (4) years of applicable experience OR Associate's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field of study PLUS Two (2) years of applicable experience.

    • Strong customer service and communication skills and the ability to problem solve.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience within a clinical environment

    • Produces accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.

    • Identifies trends and monitors key access and financial metrics.

    • Develops action plans to correct deficiencies.

    • Manages programs and projects by creating and maintaining scope, budget and forecasting.

    • Ensures goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.

    • Organizes programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.

    • Meets with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding program issues and decisions on services.

    • May performs other duties as assigned.
