Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position provides grounds keeping services and routine maintenance work on the Herman Holloway campus and for the State Service Centers in the Northern Region.

Essential Functions

• Performs under close supervision routine maintenance of lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees involving planting, transplanting, weeding, mulching, pruning, mowing and trimming.
• Removes snow / ice from driveways, steps and walkways; rakes leaves; removes trash, debris, materials and supplies.
• Assists in the maintenance of driveways by sweeping, grading and repairing holes; painting and repairing tables and benches.
• May assist trades personnel in painting, minor repairs as required.
• Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and hand tools including mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Groundskeeper I

Applicants must have education, training and / or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas :

Knowledge of operating groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.
