Boarhog is seeking a conscientious, energetic Hardware Engineer (Junior level, Labor Code HE1) to become a "plank owner" member of a new multi-company Systems Engineering Team responsible for applying interdisciplinary engineering skills in the technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for complex solutions or products. Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
LOCATION:
For the first three months of contract startup, estimated to commence in April 2023, (and possibly up to the first 6 months after startup), the full Systems Engineering team will initially be hosted in the Sterling VA facility, including being provided with desks, workstations, phones, SCIF space, classified and unclassified network access, clearance crossovers, etc. It is also possible that engineering positions could be hosted in the Sterling VA facility beyond the initial 6 months if desired. After the first 3 to 6 months the location requirement will be relaxed, with various locations open for consideration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions in the performance of the following:
- Identify and organize requirements.
- Support the evaluation of engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate development plans.
- Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, and designs.
- Develop electrical schematics or mechanical drawings for a variety of systems.
- Develop documents and diagrams in order to design, capture project details, and produce finished products.
- Work closely with systems, software and firmware engineers throughout the lifecycle of hardware products.
- Build prototypes and deliverable products in a lab environment.
- Test hardware systems based on requirements.
- Assist with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
- Interface with subcontractors and vendors to develop requirements, design, pricing, and proposed developments.
- Participate in rack, cabinet, cabling, cooling, and installation design efforts.
- Support engineering analysis functions, such as thermal, stress, dynamics, and mass properties
EXPERIENCE:
- None is required but is highly desirable. Equivalent experience may substitute for education (4 years for BA/BS).
EDUCATION:
- Minimum BA/BS in a relevant field of study
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- The position requires a TS/SCI clearance. Boarhog's Facility Security Officer will ascertain the candidate's initial status and assist in the timely processing of the application (SF-86) as necessary.
