The Bakery at Applecrest has long been known for its impressive array of made-from-scratch offerings including savory hearth loaves, sweet breads, muffins, scones, cookies, cakes, cider donuts and fresh-baked pies. Our farm's continually broadening bakery program now calls for an IMMEDIATE new addition to our creative and talented team.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Currently seeking a Head Baker w/ solid weekday (and occasional weekend) availability. The Bakery Manager will assume mastery of all components of production and management of bakery staff. Of chief concern, maintaining the daily steady supply of fresh baked goods for retail and festival sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Baker will oversee every aspect of bakery production, including: scaling, mixing, shaping, baking-off, packaging, shelf-stocking and ensuring that work and retail display areas are always kept safe and clean. Inventory tracking/control, ordering, portioning and monitoring cost and expense are a paramount component to the position. Staff scheduling and overall crew management are crucial tasks for the role.
QUALIFICATIONS: S(he) must absolutely enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced bakery environment, be of vigorous good health, able to lift up to 50 pounds and endure long hours on feet. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in baking and/or culinary experience. At the core, we are seeking an individual who is passionate about food, eager to further hone their skills and, most importantly, seek a work environment where one can positively contribute to a fun, friendly and close-knit team.
HOURS & COMPENSATION: Candidates should be prepared to work early AM "bakers hours" with shifts beginning as early as 5:00a. Compensation will be hyper-competitive and commensurate with the applicant's previous experience.
