    PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

    To provide leadership in the planning, development and implementation of a building level library media program based on Arkansas Library Media Curriculum Frameworks, National Technology Standards and AASL Standards.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Perform duties with a professional and cooperative work ethic and promote positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.

    2. Continuously update, improve and expand professional competencies through professional reading, completion of graduate courses, membership/active participation in organizations, or workshops and/or other staff development activities.

    3. Participate actively on building and/or district level curriculum and other planning committees.

    4. Lead innovative practices in technology integration.

    5. Formulate short and long range media program goals, based on data from ongoing action research and other various sources, which align with school and district philosophy, learning objectives, and strategic plans.

    6. Establish and implement a plan to create and grow an avid reading culture, for both learning and enjoyment, through resources and activities that spark all students’ interest.

    7. Assist teaching staff and students in the selection of books and other instructional materials.

    8. Employ effective, district mandated technological applications for management purposes.

    9. Maintain and support an effective public relations program that promotes visibility and ensures frequent and timely communication to stakeholders through the school website and library online public access catalog (OPAC), and other formats.

    10. Encourage the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community through online resources.

    11. Manage day to day media center activity including new book evaluation, selection, processing, book repair, weeding, shelving books, reorganizing shelves, keeping OPAC and other programs up-to-date.

    12. Manage an annual school level budget for the library media program, strategically invest in resources in varying formats, and maintain accurate records of all requisitions, purchase orders, and expenditures.

    13. Implement inviting flexible library scheduling and spaces that promote reading, inquiry, creativity, and collaboration for students and staff that provides student accessibility to resources at point of need.

    14. Empower students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

    15. Meet the diverse and developmental learning needs of all learners.

    16. Work as part of grade level teams to ensure that the curricula includes and infuses the full range of literacy skills including: information, media, news literacy, digital citizenship, and technological literacy skills necessary to meet content standards and to develop lifelong learners.

    17. Plan and deliver high quality, research-based lessons aligned to the Arkansas Library Media Curriculum Frameworks, national technology, and AASL Standards, through direct instruction and collaboration with teaching staff.

    18. Collaborate with teachers and students to design engaging inquiry learning experiences and assessments that incorporate multiple literacies and foster critical thinking.

    19. Collaborate with teachers in planning assignments likely to lead to extend the use of the media center and its resources and Maker Space.

    20. Collaborate with principal and district media facilitator in planning and presenting professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.

    21. Share with the teaching staff and students policies concerning reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and technology acceptable use.

    22. Provide Google G Suite training and support for students and staff.

    23. Provide Tier 1 technology support to faculty, staff and students.

    24. Assist with the distribution and collection of textbooks and other curriculum materials.

    25. Support student online access, subscriptions, and passwords.

    26. Assist with state and district mandated testing.

    27. Know and follow Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, district and school guidelines and regulations, copyright law, the Library Bill of Rights, and American Library Association's Code of Ethics.

    28. Other duties as assigned by the building Head of School.

    Position Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications: Eligible to work in Arkansas Public Schools. An active Arkansas certification in Library Media. A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related subject. Ability to obtain a valid fingerprint clearance through the state department and Department of Public Safety.

    Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience as an educator/librarian. Master’s degree in Education or related subject(s).

    Additional Job Information:

    Benefits and Salary: Starting Salary is $50,000 and is negotiable dependent on education and experience.
