Department needs shift based on the academic semester and intersessions. This position will primarily be scheduled for evening hours.

    Position Summary

    The Librarian Specialist works collaboratively with the library team to foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all library users and ensures users receive welcoming and efficient service. This position is responsible for providing reference support, research assistance, and information literacy instruction to students and community members. This role will work closely with the library team to collect information, analyze, and make changes to the services offered. The Librarian Specialist will be empowered to identify innovative and creative projects that would bring the community together.

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

    • Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community members in person or virtually
    • Provide scholarly research support to students, employees, and community members
    • Contribute to the development of curriculum and teach information literacy instruction
    • Work collaboratively with faculty and library team to recommend information literacy instruction that aligns with course and supports students research needs
    • Contributes to the long-term planning, goal setting, and participates in assessment of library services and resources
    • Facilitate training and development to the campus community in a variety of formats to include professional development days, virtual trainings, tutorials, seminars, and faculty and employee meetings
    • Partake in the creation and distribution of library promotional material and marketing efforts
    • Provide input and collaborate in the selection and withdrawal of library resources
    • Create subject, course, and assignment-related research guides (LibGuides)
    • Involvement in campus wide enrollment and retention events and programs
    • Ensure the delivery of programs and services to meet the scholarly research and library needs of students and community members
    • Arrange the physical and digital library displays in partnership with the library team, and the campus community
    • Identify and organize innovative and creative projects that would bring the community together
    • Manage the overall inventory and organization of all archives and special collections
    • Collect and use reference-transaction data to inform changes to curriculum, instruction, and services
    • Contribute to the development and/or enhancement of workflows, policies, and tools to support information literacy, research, and instruction
    • Communicates with students, employees, and community members in a positive, welcoming, and inclusive way that and ensures that users receive welcoming and efficient service
    • Provide support and direction to student employees
    • Determine appropriate resolutions and/or referral to respond to student circumstances and situations.
    • Provide back-up coverage for circulation functions
    • Work collaboratively with others (e.g. supervisor, campus leadership, colleagues, stakeholders, student employees, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
    • Engage in ongoing exploration in an equity minded delivery of library services
    • Participate in college meetings and committees as assigned
    • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution or a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with prior library instruction experience
