    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Initially, incumbents in this position work under general supervision and participate in the day-to-day operations, programs, and projects of the City Library to provide effective and efficient library services to the community. As they gain more experience, their assignments become more complex and difficult. The level of supervision and review lessens as the employee demonstrates the ability to perform independently. Incumbents in this position are not expected to function at the same skill level as a Librarian II and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. The work is usually supervised while in progress and follows an established structure or pattern. If there are any exceptions or changes in procedures, they will be explained in detail as they arise.
Librarian II: This is a journey-level classification in the Librarian series. Incumbents in this class are responsible for performing a full range of professional general and specialized library work in one or more fields of librarianship or technical area.
