Assists players in reaching highest athletic potential possible through athletic training and leadership skills. Additionally, Head Coach (Minor Sport) must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in the related area. Typically reports to a institutional officer. Head Coach (Minor Sport) is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.     Job Description

    This position is responsible for providing instruction and support designed to prepare students for current and future success.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Consistently uses effective and productive soft skills with all school district stakeholders
    • Serve as a positive and productive member of the school staff and the athletic department
    • Contribute to the climate and culture of the school, athletic department, and school district
    • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
    • Teaches District approved curriculum daily
    • Implement school or district curricular goals
    • Participate in all prescribed professional development programs and activities, including but not limited to RISE training
    • Applies the Science of Reading to all instruction
    • Develops lesson plans, unit organizers, and instructional materials
    • Provides individualized and small group instruction to differentiate for the needs of each student daily
    • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive and appropriate to learning in both appearance and activities
    • Motivate students to learn and grow
    • Develop and administer content-specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels
    • Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study
    • Carries out lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences daily
    • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of learning objectives and curriculum goals daily
    • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc, and communicates these objectives to students
    • Display leadership skills to support the athletic program
    • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Assists students and athletes in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily
    • Progress monitor students' and athletes’ growth (academic/social/behavior/skills) and report monitoring data
    • Communicate with students/athletes and parents on student progress on a continuous basis
    • Actively participates on content and/or grade level team(s) within the school as well as actively participates with the coaching staff and larger athletic department staff
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
    • Maintain personal safety of students
    • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
    • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction
    • Follow state, district, and school policies and expectations
    • Other duties as assigned connected to school, classroom, and athletic department
