Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit directs nursing service activities for assigned intensive care unit patients. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and intensive care unit staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of intensive care unit patient clinical records. Being a Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages inventory of solutions, supplies, medicines, narcotics, and equipment according to hospital policies, procedures and regulations. Evaluates intensive care unit staff performance and quality of service. Additionally, Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit coaches and develops nursing staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Intensive Care Unit typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Short Description

    Looking for individuals that are willing and have experience in stocking, clerical/administrative, cleaning of NICU specific equipment 

     

    Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care.

    Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s).

    Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

     

    1. Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
    2. Performs technical duties as directed by RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately.
    3. Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN and responds appropriately. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
    4. Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
    5. Participates in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Assists in orientation of new hires.
    6. Completes annual unit-specific competencies by specified due date.
    7. Attends Staff Meetings when available for documents review of staff meeting minutes.
    8. Assists in admission, transfers and discharges of patients to and from the unit


    Experience Required

    0-2 years of experience preferred


    Education Requirements

    High School / GED


    License/Certification Requirements

    Qualifications/Certifications

     

    • Successful completion of an unlicensed health care provider/ technician program
    • Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN Program
    • 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role.

    At least one of the above qualifications/certifications must be met for hire.

     

     

    AHA Basic Life Support certification - required

     

    Skills

    • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
    • Successful phlebotomy/EKG competency must be completed during orientation

    Special Requirements

    full time nights, 36 hours a week and every third weekend

    Hours: 7p-7a, 12 hour shifts.
