Position Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator administers various environmental and safety programs and initiatives in the workplace to ensure the health and safety of all GreenWood, Inc. employees. Focusing on compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, the EH&S Coordinator assists and consults with the Safety Director to ensure the organization is compliant with all environmental and safety related requirements.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
- Assists GreenWood, Inc. Corporate Safety Director, and Human Resources in the administration of the workers' compensation program, to include effective medical case management, reporting, root cause investigations, record maintenance and follow-up
- Advises and consults employees, staff, and customers on various environmental and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
- Assists in the administration of legal, governmental and company safety, health, medical, and environmental related records according to standards, ensuring confidentiality
- Identifies best practices and assists the Safety Director to lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices
- Consults with visiting inspectors and performs hazard analysis, safety, environmental audits, and reports findings
- Participates in professional education and training programs and meets necessary requirements to maintain professional credentials
- Assists the Safety Director to develop/implement/update effective occupational safety, health, environmental, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs for the identification, prevention and control of occupational incidents, injuries, and illnesses
- Maintains and manages distribution of safety, health and other related policy and procedure manuals/topics
- Serves as an LMS (Learning Management System) Global Administrator; Educates and motivates personnel in safety policies, practices, and procedures within the LMS software system as well as audit/maintain administration of training records
- Maintains software programs with third-party compliance groups for specific site locations as required (i.e., ISN, Avetta, Veriforce, Comply Works, etc.)
- Assists in administering compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier/Clearinghouse programs and applicable regulations, DOT/CDL regulations, and the Fleet Safety Program
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position

Essential Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a safety representative role having working knowledge in the general industry and construction related fields
- Minimum of 1 year of experience of working knowledge of maintaining DOT/CDL Driver record retention/Fleet Safety programs
- Hold OSHA 30 General Industry card - or - the ability to obtain/complete the OSHA 30 course
- Hold OSHA 30 Construction Industry card – or - the ability to obtain/complete the OSHA 30 course
- Hold a Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene (FIH) course completion certificate or the ability to complete it
- Working knowledge of basic procedures in Workers Compensation Claims Case management
- Working knowledge of state, local and federal OSHA, and EPA standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
- Working knowledge of Adobe
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong presentation and training skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to travel as needed to visit job sites in multiple states
- Ability to work overtime and/or alternate shifts as necessary to meet internal and external safety requirements
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Greater than 3 years of experience in a safety representative role in an industrial/construction related field
- OSHA Certification 500 series
- Forklift Train the Trainer Certification
- Aerial Lift Train the Trainer Certification
- Previous experience using a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Previous experience with Workers Compensation Claims Case management
