Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Required Skills
- Perform all assembly functions at an acceptable standard level
- Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, setup and repair of machinery
- Use Power tools as required
- Reports all damaged goods and or scrap to supervisor
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
- Must have some assembly experience
- Must be able to read and understand shop drawings
- Must be knowledgeable in the use and operation of all hand power tools
- Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Has some knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment under this classification
- Must be capable of working under minimum amount of supervision
- Able to effectively communicate
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
