Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Cooling Section Assembler assembles radiators by matching and mating finished cores with other components such as tanks and filler necks. The Assembler II receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with limited supervisory assistance. All work is subject to final inspection and test to ensure that radiators meet established specifications and to control excess labor and material expense. The Assembler II is expected to practice and adhere to the Company’s Six Sigma principles.
